2019 Light of Hope

This year's Light of Hope was a very special evening honoring our 2019 recipients.  Check out the magnificent pictures below from the event.  Mark your calendars for February 2020 as we will begin taking Light of Hope nominations at that time!

Congratulations to the 2019 W. Everett Bennett Community Partner Award, Judi S. Jenkins, pictured right.  Presenting Judi the award is Mrs. W. Everett Bennett along with Lynn Jackson, Administrator of Northside Forsyth Hospital.

Thank you to the 2019 Light of Hope Sponsors, Bagwell Insurance Group and Northside Forsyth Hospital.  Representing Bagwell Insurance Group are, pictured on the right and middle, Mr. and Mrs. T.J. (Alison) Smith and Northside Forsyth Hospital, Mrs. Lynn Jackson. 

Mr. Jeff Waller, author and co-founder of 7 Mindsets, was our 2019 Light of Hope Guest Speaker.  

Student artists from Chattahoochee Elementary School, under the direction of Sheralyn Shadle, created a spectacular 5 foot by 5 foot mixed media art piece entitled "Light of Hope."  Prints are still available for $20.00.   Call our CASA office @ 770-886-4082 if you are interested in purchasing one.  Admiring the art piece is Paula Malmfeldt, CASA Executive Director, along with a ceremony attendee. 

The Forsyth Central High School Chamber Chorus performed a beautiful choral piece entitled "Rise Up" by Andra Day. 

The Light of Hope awards table embracing the 306 lit candles. Each lit candle represents the 306 children in Forsyth County served by CASA volunteers in 2018. 

Forsyth County School Superintendent, Dr. Jeffrey Bearden, enjoying the Light of Hope reception with other FCS employees including Gail Freund, School Social Worker, Amy Gamez, School Social Worker, and Kara Quincy, School Nurse and 2019 Light of Hope recipient.  Dr. Bearden, Gail, and Amy were Light of Hope recipients in prior years. 

Major Thomas K. Patton, of the Forsyth County Sheriff's Department, spoke to the Light of Hope audience about the importance of our Forsyth County "village" all working together to improve our families and community. 

The Chattahoochee Elementary orchestra performed at the Light of Hope reception held prior to the ceremony. 

Cheering on their DFCS co-worker and 2019 Light of Hope recipient Brittney Hampton, are members of the outstanding Forsyth County DFCS team.  Pictured, left to right, is Kenya Wooden, Rochelle Doyle, Brittney's mother, DFCS Foster Care Supervisor Brittney Hampton, and Danielle Benefield. 

Wayne Caton was awarded the Voice of Hope due to his remarkable efforts advocating for children in foster care.  Wayne was the 2018 Forsyth County CASA Volunteer of the Year.
